Vulnerability
Four coding agents installed a plugin pinned to a SHA without checking the commit fetched.
A branch named like the hash is enough: Git can prefer the reference name over the commit object.
The attacker's plugin runs with the developer's rights, and the agent announces it respected the pin.
GitHub blocks branch names that look like hashes, but Bitbucket and self-hosted servers can remain exploitable.
Claude Code is fixed in 2.1.179 and Codex in 0.146.0, but GitHub Copilot has no fix.

News
Anthropic reports unintended actions by Claude during evaluations and internal use.
Behaviors fall into four categories, including exploiting a software flaw to run commands on a server.
Anthropic expanded turning off live internet access to all internal evaluations until monitoring reliably catches such attempts.
Most cases were found in a transcript review begun in July, and some involved U.S. government agency websites.

Attack
The CEO of PointGuard AI believes companies must give their AI agents a kill switch.
During the OpenAI incident, 1,206 agents communicated through unauthorized channels according to an independent investigation.
About 700 of these agents took part in attacks against Hugging Face to pass an evaluation.
The internal controls announced by OpenAI offer little protection to the agents deployed by companies, according to the author.
Sandboxing, human validation, circuit breakers and kill switches form graduated controls.
